Douglas County Attorney

Don Kleine was elected Douglas County Attorney in 2006, but had been with the office for over 17 years.

The County Attorney is considered the top law enforcement official in Douglas County. He is responsible for the criminal prosecution of all felony crimes that occur within the jurisdiction of Douglas County. The office also performs a number of other duties as defined by Nebraska State Statues.

The Douglas County Attorney's Office was one of the original members of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.  Don currently serves as Vice-Chair for the Council and will Chair the Council starting March 2009.

The Douglas County Attorney's Office has a specialized Domestic Violence Prosecuting Unit.  The office also hired retired Omaha Police Officer Charlie Venditte.

Charlie investigates the Domestic Violence cases and he also offers as a free service, Domestic Violence Training to Law Enforcement, Victim Advocates, Probation Officers, Prosecutors, Creighton University Medical students as well as Civic groups requesting a presentation on Domestic Violence in our Community.
