Domestic Violence
The Omaha Police Domestic Violence Squad has been developed to provide a timely and appropriate response to domestic violence. Our goal is to help lessen the impact the crime has on you. We care about you.
We know that the court process can be very confusing and overwhelming. For that reason, we have outlined the basic steps of the Criminal Justice System as it applies to domestic violence. We would like to answer your questions and help you understand the different phases which may occur in your case.
Throughout the process, there will be other agencies that will be available to you in assisting your needs. Two of these agencies include the Omaha-Douglas County Victim Assistance Unit and the YWCA. In addition, we have included other information and referrals for services that you may find helpful.
Please let us know if you have any special needs or concerns. We would be glad to assist you in meeting those needs.
Also, if you are being intimidated, harassed, or stalked by the person accused of a crime against you, contact "911" immediately.
In addition, all City of Omaha fire stations are available as "safe houses" for immediate protection prior to police arrival. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us.
If you have any questions at all, please contact us at (402) 444-5825.
