HELPS ACT
The County Board approved the HELPS ACT for retired Deputy Sheriffs to pretax their medical, dental, long-term care and Medicare supplement premium payments from their monthly pension payments. There is a one-time setup fee of $25.00 which will need to be paid to the Douglas County Employees' Retirement Trust Fund. Any future changes or new setup plans will also require the one-time $25.00 fee. In order to have your qualified medical, dental, long-term care or Medicare supplement premiums deducted on a pretax bases from your monthly pension payments you will need to complete an Affidavit and Authorization form and Election designation form and return it to the Pension Department at 1819 Farnam Street, Suite 505 Omaha, NE 68183 attn: Kathy Adair. Below are the forms required to begin and setup the deduction process. We will need a minimum 45-day notice prior to the effective date to setup the premium deductions. The Douglas County Employees’ Pension Committee is made up of 11 members. One shall be a County Commissioner and one member from the retiree group. The other nine members are employees within the County employment.

NOTICE: PENSION COMMITTEE MEETINGS ARE THE LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH AT 9:00AM
The Pension Committee meets regularly on the last Thursday of each month unless otherwise approved by a majority vote of the Committee members. The meetings are located in the Civic Center, Room 903 at 9:00am and open to the public.
