INSURANCE ELIGIBILITYDouglas County offers medical/dental coverage to regular (non-temporary) employees who work 21 hours or more per week. The insurance is effective on the 91st day of regular employment. Our medical and dental plans are a package, so if employees wants dental they also have to enroll in medical and vice versa.  Employees also must elect the same coverage tier for both as well (employee only coverage for both the medical and dental plans, or employee plus one for both plans, etc.). Employees who elect medical/dental coverage will also be enrolled in a standard vision plan as well. There is an optional vision plan that helps covers some of the cost of vision materials such as glasses, contacts, etc. There is a charge for the optional vision plan. Premiums will be deducted on a pretax basis from each pay period the month after the employee's effective date. Employees may chose to "waive out" of the medical/dental plan if they have coverage elsewhere.  |
